Happy Day!

by Cynthia mybloggingplanet.com

Today was a beautiful day- sunny and blue skies and only a tad bit on the chilly side. I took advantage of the gorgeous weather and took the kids on a walk followed by a stroll through the garden to see how things are going out there. As my 10 year old put it, “Everything’s dead.” “Yes, it does look that way” I explained, “but everything is hibernating for now.” While out there I peered down at my bed of garlic with a slight troubled feeling.

I have been worried about all the garlic I planted since it was first placed in the ground by me and my son. As soon as we had got it into the ground- literally within days- our rainy season began. I was afraid they might rot in the ground before they even had a chance to send down some roots. Then when we were hit with foot upon foot of snow last month I thought they were goners for sure.

Imagine my delight then when I discovered what you see in the below pictures.

Did you also happen to notice the lovely rocky soil I garden in?

I am so happy! I can now continue spending the rest of the winter and spring dreaming about roasted garlic spread over homemade toasted bread drizzled with olive oil.
